FAQs
How many days should we book?
This is a really tough question to ask and varies wildly. I’ve recorded 22 grind core songs in a day and Ive been part of week long projects for a couple songs. In my experience is always beneficial to not be rushed. I’m happy to talk over the project and budget with you to come up with something that works.
What are your hours?
I typically like to work a 8 hour day between 10am and 8pm but I’m flexible if needed.
What are your rates?
Rates can be found here.
Can we stay at the studio?
Unfortunately I am unable to host bands here at the studio. I am located about a mile from downtown Fairfax City if you need to find accommodations nearby.
Do you have gear for us to use?
I encourage bands to pack like they are playing a show but I have tons of amps, pedals, guitars, drums, drums machines, synths etc. for you to use. Please let me know if you are looking for something specific and I can get you a gear list.
What do we need to have prepared?
These are some things that I’ve found helpful but are not required…
Songs should be finished and well rehearsed
Lyrics should be finalized and saved/printed for easy access
Guitars should have new strings and be intonated
If using a click tempo maps should be prepared in advance and songs should be rehearsed to a click
Drums (if you using your own) should have new heads. For toms I’m partial to Remo Pinstripes or Evans EC2S
Can we record live?
Yes! I do many projects live and love it. Please keep in mind that that does place some limitations on editing after the fact.
How and when do we pay you?
I use PayPal invoicing which gives several options for payment. Cash is also great. Payment for recording is due on the last day of tracking and payment for mixing is dude when the final mix is delivered.
Can our friends come?
The studio is not huge so I encourage bands to only have people here that are contributing to the creative process.
